The Minister of Finance of Serbia, Sinisa Mali, stated today in Paris that he would discuss the details of the Belgrade metro project with the representatives of the companies “Alstom” and “Egis Rail”, so that the construction of the first metro line could start at the end of the year, the ministry announced.
Mali said that he would visit the metro in Paris and Lyon, and during his visit to France, the Serbian delegation will be presented with conceptual solutions for the appearance of the Belgrade metro car, and the citizen of Belgrade will be able to vote for the model they like best.
The Serbian government, the City of Belgrade, the Chinese company “Power China” and the French companies “Alstom” and “Egis Rail” signed a Memorandum of Understanding in January, which envisages cooperation on the Belgrade Metro project.
According to the statement, Mali met with the French Minister of Economy and Finance, Bruno Lemerre, the Minister of Foreign Trade, Frank Riester, and the Minister of Transport and Energy, Jean-Baptiste Zebari.
Mali said that he had the opportunity to present to the French ministers everything that Serbia has done in the past few years and to show the economic results from last year.
He pointed out that he was especially pleased that many French companies were interested in participating in a large number of projects and the overall development of the Serbian economy.
“A large number of French companies have expressed interest in coming to Serbia and being part of that small economic miracle in the Western Balkans. Obviously, the pandemic has made great changes, not only in the European economy, but above all in the economies of the Western Balkans,” Mali said.
The delegation with the Minister of Finance also includes the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirovic, the Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic and the Director of JKP “Belgrade Metro and Train” Stanko Kantar, Beta reports.
