Minister of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management Dusan Petrovic stated yesterday that the government approved a monthly tariff quota of 11,000 tonnes for the export of flour over the next three months.

Petrovic told the press at the Parliament building that the government adopted a Decree on customs-free import of 100,000 tonnes of wheat, recalling that on 16 March it decided to place a three-month ban on wheat and flour export to stabilise the domestic market.

After reviewing the situation on the market, the government estimated that exports of flour will not affect the domestic demand and that imports of wheat will prevent any possible disruption on the market, he explained.

The Minister said that the Serbian government made a decision to extend the deadline for registration of agricultural households by the end of April.

Petrovic announced that the Ministry will soon present plans for agricultural policy by 2011 in order to boost production in agriculture and increase exports.
