B92 has unofficially learned that the government will at its session on Thursday vote to sack the director of the state-owned power company EPS.
According to sources from the top of the government, Dragomir Marković will be replaced by Aleksandar Obradović.
Obradović was a former head of Serbia office of the Czech company ČEZ, during which time he was “very interested in a strategic partnership and investment in EPS”.
In one of his interviews from that period, Obradović said that Serbia made no investments in production facilities for 20 years and that for this reason there was “negative balance – because it spent more than it produced”.
“EPS found itself in a vicious circle, it must buy electricity, which it then sells cheap,” he said at the time.
The government will also discuss shutting down or merging some state agencies and funds, in order to save money from the state budget.
