How can the wings of Serbian poultry farming be strengthened?

Experts estimate that more than 50 million euros should be invested in Serbian poultry farming, in order to reach the required standards. That is why investments are needed from both domestic and European funds. One of the largest IPARD projects in Serbia is underway in Glibovac near Smederevska Palanka.
The estimated value of the two farms for breeding the parent flock is 788 thousand euros. They are built by domestic performers according to the highest standards, and when they are finished, the hosts expect 450 thousand euros to be returned to them.
The goal is to increase competitiveness and exports after two decades of doing business on the domestic market.
Ivan Stanojlovic, the owner of the company, expects them to reach the level of 25 million one-day-old chickens a year.
“That is a big number for the Serbian market, but some of our plans are to be more and more competitive in terms of exports,” says Stanojlovic.
Dragan Mirkovic, a consultant, believes that the effect of investments is that companies will have additional capital as fixed assets and increase their credit potential.
The Stanojlovics want the poultry industry to gain stronger wings in agribusiness through future business incubators and knowledge transfer.
“IPARD1 had 175 million euros allocated. I think that the calls have already been announced for about 120 million. We expect the next IPARD program when we pass the checks and accreditations and that it will have twice the amount,” Mirkovic points out.
Ivan Stanojlovic emphasizes that everything must be covered with papers and be very transparent.
“The job is very serious and complex, but it pays off very well,” Stanojlovic added.
The most important task is to reduce the risk of banks through guarantee funds, so that they can more strongly support agricultural farms and companies.
The key to greater money transfer from IPARD funds is education, a unique methodology and legal work, RTS reports.
