Signatures have been collected for a week, since the unofficial announcement of tax collection for freelancers has been announced, so that some will be deprived of up to 80 percent of their income.
The petition “Do not destroy freelancers”, which asks the Minister of Finance of Serbia, Sinisa Mali, for fair, lower taxes, was supported by the signatures of more than 18,000 freelancers.
The Association for the Protection of Constitutionality and Legality and the “Go-Change” Team announced today that they plan to officially submit the request after collecting 30,000 signatures and formulating proposals to the state on regulating that area of business, especially the digital IT sector.
The team for formulating proposals to the state on the regulation of that area will have legal, tax and economic experts, and representatives of the freelancing community – it is written in the announcement.
An online public hearing is also planned.
The state will be proposed to legally regulate the status of freelancers and to determine a tax model that will enable and stimulate the business of that sector.
It was also pointed out that no one thinks that taxes should not be paid, but it must be realistically based.
It was assessed that it is important to recognize the specifics of the activities of freelancers and to understand “that these are jobs and money that can easily leave Serbia, and with them probably the people who deal with these jobs,” Danas reports.
