The Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlović, stated today that raising energy efficiency is a national goal and one of the most important projects in energy, and that the state will subsidize the replacement of carpentry and installation of solar panels in the coming years.
“We have signed contracts with 67 cities and municipalities for the replacement of carpentry, and with 37 for the installation of panels, and the state, ie the ministry and the city, will provide half of the money for both projects,” she said during a visit to work on improving energy efficiency at Zivadin Apostolović Elementary School in Trstenik, as well as the Mijailović family, which, as one of the 23 households in that place, received state subsidies for the replacement of carpentry on the family house.
She invited everyone to participate in the carpentry replacement project, as well as in the project of installing solar panels, and added that a new public call for carpentry replacement would be announced in January next year, and certainly three more by the end of the year,” the ministry announced.
“I invite citizens to participate, because that is the way to reduce costs, not waste energy and have a healthier environment,” said Mihajlović.
She stated that Trstenik is one of the municipalities that previously realized that it is important to invest in increasing energy efficiency and environmental protection.
“Works on replacing the carpentry in the school will be finished by December 4, and when everything is finished, 100 tons less carbon dioxide will be emitted per year, which will significantly contribute to air quality. When we talk about finances, then we are also talking about savings that will be 60 percent of the existing accounts, and that is additional money that will be able to be invested in new projects,” she said.
The president of the municipality of Trstenik, Milena Turk, said that the investment in the school is worth 194 thousand euros, and the Ministry of Mining and Energy is participating with more than 135 thousand euros.
“The project is of vital importance for the school, because there have been practically no major investments since the construction. I hope that in the coming period, with the support of the ministry, we will be able to improve energy efficiency in other public facilities as well,” she said, Danas reports.
