The Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Tatjana Matic, stated today that another year will be needed for the recovery of income from tourism, but that this year’s data indicate that the sector is on the right track.
Matic, as a guest on RTS, stated that foreign tourists are returning, that Serbia is recording a jump in foreign exchange inflow from tourism of 33% year on year, and that it has reached 650 million euros so far.
“We are now at 50 percent (2019), I’m talking about the data for the first six months, we still do not have statistics for the last two months, which were striking… For us, September and winter are traditionally good, and depending from the situation, we can achieve 70 percent of the results of our record year,” stated Matic.
She added that 4.6 million overnight stays of foreign tourists were registered, as well as that the number of domestic tourists increased by 45%, Beta reports.
