Italian company Armonia Holding has invested 6 million euro ($6.9 million) in the construction of an industrial laundry in Stara Pazova, northern Serbia, the economy ministry in Belgrade said.

The industrial laundry, officially opened on November 6 and named Bela Harmonija, has a workforce of 50 and the number will be increased to 200 in the coming weeks, the economy ministry said in a statement on Monday.

Bela Harmonija represents the biggest industrial laundry on the Balkans, with a footprint of 3,500 square metres and a maximum capacity to wash 20 tonnes of laundry daily. Armonia Holding plans to expand the facility by 2,500 square metres and to 40 tonnes of laundry daily, which would make the facility the largest industrial laundry in Southeastern Europe, the economy ministry said.

“Italy is one of our biggest foreign trade partners. Last year, trade was at the level of $3.7 billion. Italian investors have invested more than 2 billion euro in Serbia, have about 600 companies that employ more than 20,000 people. I am convinced that in the forthcoming period our cooperation will be even stronger,” economy minister Goran Knezevic said in the statement.

Serbian company Coopservice BMK also holds a stake in Bela Harmonija, the ministry added.

Armonia Holding operates as a holding company by buying and managing share quotas in non-Italian companies which in turn work in the civil and industrial cleaning, facility management and hospital cleaning business.
