Leskovac builds wastewater treatment plant worth EUR 23 million

The city of Leskovac plans to build a wastewater treatment plant in association with the Netherlands Development Agency and with the help of IPA funds.

The city of Leskovac plans to build a wastewater treatment plant in association with the Netherlands Development Agency and with the help of IPA funds.

According to the plan, the total value of the works is EUR 23 million, EUR 10 million of which will be provided from IPA funds. The city of Leskovac and the Environment Protection Fund will contribute with EUR 5 million to the project, while the Netherlands Development Agency will set aside EUR 8 million for that purpose.

Contractor will be selected by the end of June, while the works are planned to commence in September 2011 and end in October 2012.

This plant, which will be situated in the village of Bogojevce, next to Corridor X, will send wastewater to the Juzna Morava river and it will be used by 130,000 people. In this way, the citizens of Leskovac will also have their sewerage system expanded.
