Mastercard enabled Apple Pay to its customers in Serbia

As of today, Mastecard Serbia has enabled its customers who are clients of ProCredit Bank to use Apple Pay in their daily purchases. It is a more secure, payment method that protects data, helps users avoid giving their payment card to vendors at the checkout, touching the POS terminal when entering the PIN code and exchanging cash, using the iPhone’s capacity to secure each transaction.
All that is needed at the time of payment is for users to bring their iPhone or Apple Watch POS terminal closer to pay contactlessly. Any payment with Apple Pay is secure because biometrics is used for authentication, which means face recognition, fingerprint or you can type in the code to unlock the phone. Apple Pay can be used for payment in stores, pharmacies, taxis, restaurants, cafeterias, supermarkets and in general at all points of sale where contactless payment is enabled.
With today’s arrival of Apple Pay in Serbia, users have gained a unique, secure and flawless payment experience, which is especially important at a time of maintaining physical distance and reducing contact.
“Users’ interest in the arrival of Apple Pay in Serbia has been great in previous years, so the decision of Apple Pay to come to our market is extremely important for the further popularization of non-cash payments. Banks in the Serbian market recognize this service as one of the key to keeping pace with the latest trends that customers are looking for, while security, ease of payment and impeccable user experience are in the first place when choosing Apple Pay. It is important to point out that in the current situation caused by the pandemic, Apple Pay, together with other contactless payment methods, provides additional security to users who need to spend as little time as possible at physical points of sale and with as little contact as possible,” said Jelena Ristic, Director for Markets of Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina in the company Mastercard.
To make purchases faster and more convenient within the app or on the Safari browser, users can use Apple Pay on an iPhone, iPad or Mac, without having to create an account or re-enter account number and shipping location information.
Security and privacy are at the heart of the Mastercard-Apple collaboration, so whenever you use your Mastercard® debit or credit card within an Apple Pay mobile wallet, the device or Apple servers do not store the actual card number, but assign a unique device to the device, a number that is encrypted and securely stored in a secure element on the device on a certified chip that is designed to securely store information on the device, which is an industry standard.
From the moment the Mastercard issuing bank provides the Apple Pay service to its customers, this is a wallet that is very easy to set up. All you need to do is open the Wallet app for iPhone, select +, and follow the next steps to add a Mastercard credit or debit card. Once a user adds their card to their iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad or Mac, they can instantly start using Apple Pay on their device. At the same time, users will still have access to all promotions and benefits that are otherwise provided by Mastercard or the issuing bank.
ProCredit Bank is the first bank to provide Apple Pay service to its Mastercard customers in Serbia. This service will be available to all bank customers who have an iPhone, an active bank account and one of the Mastercard payment cards, BiF reports.
