Our strategic direction is to rehabilitate the railway from Belgrade to Bar, says Minister Tomislav Momirovic after the meeting with his Montenegrin colleague Ratko Mitrovic.
After the meeting, Momirovic said that he had informed the Montenegrin Minister of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism about the investment cycle in which Serbia is currently, and said that Serbia’s strategic interest was “mini Schengen”.
He reminded that 12 highways are currently being worked on in Serbia, and that the plan is to start investing in eight highways by the end of the year.
He conveyed that the high-speed railway Belgrade-Novi Sad, Novi Sad-Subotica was also discussed at the meeting, but he also mentioned that our strategic direction is the rehabilitation of the railway from Belgrade to Bar.
“We have already made the first steps in that direction, the railway from Belgrade to Valjevo has been completely reconstructed. In the next period, we will reconstruct the part from Valjevo to Vrbnica,” Momirovic told Tanjug.
He stated that, through the initiative of President Aleksandar Vucic, the strategic interest of Serbia is “mini Schengen”, integration, connection and economic growth of the entire region.
“In that direction, we are ready to provide, and at the same time receive, all possible assistance related to investments in infrastructure projects and all types of investments covered by our ministry.”
I am convinced that we will cooperate even better in the coming period,” Momirovic emphasized.
At the meeting, he says, he had the opportunity to hear Montenegrin experiences and pass on the experiences of Serbia to his colleagues from Montenegro, primarily in relation to spatial planning.
Montenegrin Minister Ratko Mitrovic stated that they talked about significant investment projects related to the railway, road infrastructure and their importance for the development of the economy, industry and tourism.
“The common opinion is that these capital projects can be very important and that they can not only develop better relations between the two countries, but also enable a better standard of people living in that area,” Mitrovic said.
Mitrovic says that at the meeting they discussed the possibility of technical cooperation and in general the deepening of cooperation in the realization of some capital projects, B92 reports.
