Mining and Energy Minister Aleksandar Antic leads the Serbian delegation at Canada’s largest mining rally “Pidak”. We can expect serious investments in mining in the coming period, the minister said.
“Pidak” is a forum to discuss the future of mining in the world and the latest mining technologies.
One of the topics was the West-Tetian geographic belt, and Minister Antic points out that the event presented significant mining potentials in Serbia.
In front of the professional and business public, our country also presented the projects “Chukaru Peki” and “Jadarit”.
There are currently about 160 research fields in Serbia, in which about 100 companies conduct research, and more than one third are foreign companies.
The minister recalls that in 2019 alone, about 140 million euros was invested in exploration in the mining sector.
He said that Serbia is on the right track and that we can expect serious investments in mining in the coming period.
Antic met with Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources and Mining, Seamus Oregan, with whom he said he had good talks.
“It is a country we can learn a lot from. We agreed that mining, above all green, responsible mining, will make a key contribution to the world’s new development policies. Sustainable development, ‘green deal’, must be based above all on the minerals that will enable the development of these state-of-the-art technologies”, Antic said.
Canada is a world leader in this regard, but Serbia is also very attractive.
“Serbia with its copper, Serbia tomorrow with its lithium, will have a place in all these processes. It is extremely important that Serbia is recognized at that level by such a large and powerful economy and mining countries as Canada”, Antic said, RTS reports.
