The state has provided enough funds to improve energy efficiency, because it is a national project and goal, said Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic during the signing of the contract on the revitalization of three primary schools and preschools in Uzice.
She said that more than 200 million euros will be invested next year in order to reduce energy consumption, because up to four times more is spent in Serbia than the average in EU countries.
– For the next year, we have provided more than 200 million euros to subsidize the replacement of carpentry and the installation of solar panels. It is also a national priority and goal to enable local self-government units and households to improve energy efficiency, ie reduce the consumption of electricity and heat. It is a question of energy and financial rationality, as well as the reduction of harmful gas emissions – said Mihajlović, it is stated on the website of the Ministry.
She added that the project on the rehabilitation of three primary schools and kindergartens in Uzice is an example of how the state helps and encourages the improvement of energy efficiency. The value of the works, which begin on January 17, is 1.8 million euros.
– Concrete results will be a significant reduction in harmful gas emissions and financial savings. Carbon dioxide emissions will be 80% lower and consumption will be 70% lower. In addition, it is important that both children and teachers will receive better conditions – she said.
Mihajlovic announced that public calls would be announced at the beginning of the year for the replacement of carpentry and installation of solar panels, and called on citizens and the economy to participate in these projects, saying that the state, citizens and the economy should work together.
Jelena Raković Radivojević, the mayor of Užice, stated that the city is making special efforts to improve energy efficiency and thanked the Ministry for its support.
– This year, we have set aside 423 thousand euros to improve energy efficiency, and next year we will increase the budget by almost 169 thousand for that purpose. We have implemented a number of projects with the Ministry and thank you for the support we receive all the time. We have prepared projects for next year as well – she said, eKapija reports.
