Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić said that commercial banks in Serbia should invest in Serbian economy instead of speculating. On a visit to the “Sojaprotein” factory in Bečej, in the company of EBRD President Suma Chakabarti, Nikolić said that was a good example of a bank contributing to the success of a company it cooperates with.

Serbia needs a development bank, from which each citizen would obtain funds, which are to be distributed to those who will be able to contribute to Serbia’s success and not to just party members, said Nikolic. He emphasized that in the forthcoming period Serbia would have to invest much more money in the agricultural and energy sectors. He stressed that Serbia would never join the group of countries producing genetically modified food. We are not so poor as to kill ourselves, he underlined.
