Today, the Minister of Finance, Sinisa Mali, talked with the General Director of the Oil Industry of Serbia (NIS), Kiril Tjurdjenev, about the investments of that company, which, as announced by the Ministry, are important for the economy of the whole country, as well as its contribution to the national budget. The topic of conversation was also the Deep Processing project, which is crucial for the second phase of modernization of the Pancevo Refinery, worth about 300 million euros, the Ministry of Finance announced.
The goal is to increase the depth of processing, ie to obtain larger quantities of the most valuable derivatives, such as diesel and gasoline.
According to Tjurdjenev, the project also has environmental benefits, such as the cessation of the production of fuel oil with a high sulfur content.
Mali pointed out that such projects are of great importance for Serbia, because they contribute to a higher rate of its economic growth. As he said, precisely because of such investments, Serbia is the absolute leader when it comes to GDP growth.
The Minister said that large companies, such as NIS, but also smaller ones, will always have a reliable partner in the country, which was best shown during the coronavirus pandemic, when a comprehensive program of economic measures of 50 million euros was adopted.
He thanked the representatives of NIS, which employs more than 11,000 employees, for maintaining employment levels during the coronavirus pandemic, while fulfilling all obligations to the state and employees and maintaining the appropriate investment rhythm that will ensure further development of the company, the statement said.
Mali said that the goal of the state is to have such a regulatory framework that will support the growth and development of the economy, because that means more new jobs, higher salaries and a better quality of life for the citizens of Serbia, N1 reports.
