Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic attended today the beginning of work of the Regional postal and logistics centre “Beograd” in Zemun, that will enable the full transition to automated sorting and processing of mail and parcels.
Vucic said on this occasion that this is one of the most modern systems, like those in Germany and in the most developed parts of the world, and underlined that there should be more facilities like this in Serbia.
He pointed out that our country must maintain such facilities and thus show that it is ready to accept modern technology.
The Prime Minister reiterated that the public postal company “Posta Srbije”, as well as all public companies in Serbia, will have to set aside more money for the budget in the future, and specified that this public company will be putting 70% of its revenues into the state budget.
Director of “Posta Srbije” Milan Krkobabic said that this public company is at the leading position compared with the same systems in the region, adding that “Posta Srbije” is a profitable enterprise that shows a high degree of social responsibility.
He noted that this company employs 15,000 people who make good business results, as confirmed by the centre opened today.
The value of the sorting equipment, produced by Toshiba and Italian company Sinetik amounts to €12.6 million, and the probationary period started in March this year.
“Posta Srbije” implements automated processing of shipments in the regional postal and logistics centres in Novi Sad and Nis too, and the total investment in the construction and equipping of all three centres, which had been declared projects of national importance, amount to €46 million.
“Posta Srbije” finances the entire investment from its own resources, without the use of loans.
