In the first quarter of this year, 70 percent of surveyed businessmen in Serbia are planning a larger or the same volume of investments, which is 19 percentage points less than in the previous survey.
The most planned investment is in imported equipment and construction facilities and land.
Business people in Serbia are most worried about the expected drop in turnover in the first quarter, which is estimated at up to 59 percent in some sectors, and trade and the food industry are the most affected. According to the research of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce “Business activity of economic entities in the Republic of Serbia”, almost half of the surveyed exporters hope for unchanged exports in the first quarter of 2021.
– Half of the respondents based in Vojvodina or Belgrade in the fourth quarter of 2020 invested more than three months earlier, unlike businessmen based in Sumadija and Western Serbia, as well as Southern and Eastern Serbia, where 42 percent and 40 percent of respondents increased their investments – they point out in the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia. – In the first quarter of 2021, 44 percent of respondents expect a decrease in turnover, a third unchanged, while 22 percent expect growth. As many as 43 percent of respondents in the category of large companies expect a decrease in turnover, as well as 53 percent among micro-companies, Novosti reports.
