Construction plans for a terminal dedicated to handling air cargo shipments, along with administrative and logistical support services, have been unveiled at the Nikola Tesla Airport. This initiative, presented in an urban development project, was made public through a presentation by the Secretariat for Urban Planning and Construction, as reported by eKapija.

While Jat Tehnika, a company under the Avia Prime group, is listed as the project’s investor, the conceptual design indicates that the terminal will serve as a distribution center for the German company DHL.

According to Zamaaero, DHL held meetings in Belgrade last September with Avia Prime, potentially discussing the sale of a parcel owned by Jat Tehnika at the airport. This land would be used for the construction of DHL’s distribution center.

The designated construction site spans over 21,424 square meters, nestled between the airport complex’s internal roadways.

The project entails erecting a facility spanning 10,176.12 square meters to receive, sort, and dispatch air cargo. It will comprise a reception and sorting hall, administrative offices, and a finger-like structure housing conveyor belts. Additionally, a technical block housing a substation, diesel generator, and equipment space is planned nearby. A parking lot with around 120 spaces is also part of the complex.

The construction process can be implemented in phases, with an estimated workforce of 302 employees expected by 2040, operating in three shifts.

Energoprojekt – Urbanism and Architecture spearheaded the urban development project, while the Ministry of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure – Department for Spatial Planning and Urbanism is responsible for project approval.
