Future growth: Serbia’s ICT sector set to expand by 2027

In Serbia’s ICT sector, there are currently around 110,000 professionals, with projections indicating that by 2027, this number will increase to at least 140,000.

During the opening of the 23rd Technobank conference in Belgrade, Minister of Information and Telecommunications Mihailo Jovanović outlined the achievements and forthcoming initiatives aimed at advancing Serbia’s ICT industry. He emphasized that ongoing investments in cutting-edge digital, telecommunications, and innovation infrastructure are integral components of the “Leap into the Future – Serbia 2027” strategy.

Jovanović highlighted upcoming endeavors, including the expansion of the State Data Center in Kragujevac with the addition of Block 2, boasting a capacity of 16 megawatts. Additionally, plans are underway for the establishment of an innovation district in Kragujevac, which will serve as a hub for the IT community and house the National Center for Information Security, along with Serbia’s fifth scientific and technological park.

These strategic investments are expected to spur further economic growth and job creation. Furthermore, the imminent completion of the Boiler House in Belgrade, designed to foster creative industries, information technology, e-Government services, and digital transformation, underscores Serbia’s evolving role as a regional center for innovation and creativity.

Minister Jovanović concluded by affirming that these initiatives align with Serbia’s vision of becoming a nexus of excellence, vibrant urban life, and innovative entrepreneurship.
