Serbia: EBRD provides 1.7 mn for broadband in rural areas

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said it has donated 1.7 million euros for the design and construction of fibre broadband infrastructure in rural regions of Serbia.
Media sources said the deal was signed on Wednesday in Belgrade by representatives from the Serbian government and EBRD.
The project will cover 90,000 households in 600 rural settlements across Serbia.
The deal was signed by Serbian Minister for Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Tatjana Matic; Serbian Minister for European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic; EBRD regional representative Zsuzsanna Hargitai; and head of the EU delegation to Serbia Sem Fabrizi.
