Today, the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirovic signed financial agreements with the German development bank KfW for the realization of projects for the construction of a regional center for municipal waste management in Krusevac, and the total value of investments in the first phase is 13.7 million euros.
The beginning of the construction of the regional center is planned for the second half of 2022, with a deadline for completion by the end of 2024, and Momirovic estimated that this investment significantly improves the quality of life for the citizens of the entire Rasina district.
“The center will have a regional character with sufficient capacity so that in addition to the city of Krusevac and its surroundings, the municipalities of Aleksandrovac, Cicevac, Varvarin, Brus and Blace, can also dispose of municipal waste in the prescribed manner,” Momirovic said, adding that “environmental plans have priority.”
“Our plan is to invest more than four billion euros in the next five years and build communal infrastructure in about 80 percent of local governments in Serbia,” Momirovic announced.
KfW representative for Serbia Rudiger Hartmann said that for that organization, the focus of cooperation is on sustainable development in the field of environment.
“We are impressed by the ambitious environmental agenda of Krusevac and the ministry, and I hope that we will have successful cooperation in the future,” Hartman pointed out.
So far, within the financial and technical support of the Federal Republic of Germany and KfW Bank, 290 million euros have been provided for priority investments in 35 cities in Serbia, the ministry reminded in a statement, Danas reports.
