Srbijagas plays major role in Serbia’s energy, economic infrastructure

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said that the public gas company Srbijagas provides energy security in the country, which is a necessary condition for the country’s economic stability.

At a ceremony marking five years since the establishment of Srbijagas, Dacic said that this is a company of public importance, which plays a major role in energy and economic infrastructure of the country.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that this public company has a responsible role in supplying the market with quality natural gas and bearing the burden of social policy, together with the total energy sector in Serbia.

Through a strategic energy partnership with Russian Gazprom, Srbijagas is carrying out capital projects – gas pipeline South Stream and underground gas storage facility in Banatski Dvor, he said.

Dacic said that the care about employees, environmental protection and sustainable development are the basic principles of Srbijagas’ business policy.

He reminded that this is a public company involved in many projects of social responsibility and humanitarian activities in Serbia.

The celebration of the anniversary was also attended by CEO of Srbijagas Dusan Bajatovic, Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Konuzin, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Belgrade, and numerous business partners, representatives of domestic and foreign companies.
