Serbia, Increase of industrial production compared to last year

Industrial production in Serbia in May this year increased by 1.5 percent compared to the same period last year, while in the period from January to May this year it increased by two percent, compared to the same period in 2022, according to the data of the Republic of the Statistical Office (RZS).

The greatest Influence on the growth of industrial production in May 2023, compared to the same period last year, was exerted by the following sectors: electricity production, then computers, electronic and optical products, basic metals, metal ore mining and food production.

Observed by industrial production sectors, in May of this year, production in the electricity, gas, steam supply sector increased by 17.2 percent, while the manufacturing industry decreased by 0.6 percent, as well as mining, which also recorded a decrease of 3.3 percent. Compared to the same period last year, according to the data of RZS.

The volume of industrial production in May 2023 saw growth in 15 areas (which have a share in the structure of industrial production of 63 percent) and a decline in 14 areas (participation in the structure of industrial production of 37 percent).
