Serbia is keen to develop energy cooperation with Azerbaijan, President Boris Tadic has said.

He told Azerbaijan’s visiting foreign minister, Elmar Mammadyarov, that trade between the two countries did not make use of the full potential, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry press service reported.

The governments and relevant agencies of the two countries have to do much to improve relations, Tadic said.

Tadic and Mammadyarov both hoped that President Ilham Aliyev’s official visit to Belgrade, scheduled for 8-9 June, would give a powerful stimulus to cooperation.

During a meeting with Elmar Mammadyarov on Wednesday, Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic invited Azerbaijani companies to invest in Serbia and called for a free-trade agreement between the two countries.
