Serbia is becoming one of the twenty countries in the world that will be part of the World Logistics Passport and the only country in Europe that will be able to distribute its products on more favorable terms, said today the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirovic when signing a Memorandum of Understanding with DP World (Port of Novi Sad) within the World Exhibition Expo 2020 in Dubai.
In addition to Momirovic, the President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Marko Cadez and the General Director of the World Logistics Passport Network Mike Bascarn also signed the Memorandum of Understanding which enables Serbia to join the World Logistic Passport (WLP) network.
“Today, we have done a great job for Serbia and the city of Novi Sad, we continue to develop water infrastructure, we are investing in water transport. Thanks to today’s Memorandum of Understanding, Serbian companies will have much better logistical conditions to develop their business. We all know that logistics is the basis of every business, thanks to this step, we will enable our companies to have much lower costs and to have a much larger market for their products,” said Momirovic.
By joining Serbia’s World Logistics Passport network, Serbian trade and logistics companies will gain access to the convenience sector with the network’s partners in Dubai, which will contribute to their greater competitiveness, economic resilience and global connectivity, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure said in a statement.
“The DP World Logistics Passport project enables the Serbian economy to reduce transport costs and reach the world market faster. We are providing our companies with a new logistics line that can shorten the time of placing goods on the markets of Africa, the Gulf countries, Asia and the Middle East by eight to 10 days,” said Cadez.
Dubai is one of the largest platforms of this network, with 18 local partners such as DP World and Emirates Skycargo, which currently offer merchants, freight forwarders and logistics 80 benefits, such as cheaper and more efficient freight transport, Danas reports.
