Serbia must catch up with Europe in the innovation and the IT sectors, Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Ana Brnabic said Thursday, adding the government was ready to work on this, with support from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and start-ups.

At The Economist’s The World in 2017 conference, Brnabic said the government had adopted earlier in the day a Stop Bureaucracy action plan outlining priority activities aimed at reducing administrative procedures.

An action plan to be implemented by a government-established ministerial IT council is expected to be adopted by the end of the year, she said.

Digital Serbia, a body that will contribute to real and serious digitisation, is also due to be formally established, Brnabic said, adding that digitisation was the fundamental generator of global progress.
