Mining and Energy Minister Aleksandar Antic said Serbia is a leader in mining investments in the region.
Antic said that Serbia plans to invest three billion euros in the next few years, primarily in the modernization of the Bor mine, the opening of the “Cukaru Peki” mine and the “Jadar” mine.
At a ministerial conference in Toronto, Canada, held as part of the world’s largest mining fair PDAC, he said that “key issues in mining are the creation of conditions for sustainable development of lithium”.
“Serbia has a lithium site, which is a great comparative advantage of our country, both in the region and in the world”, Antic said.
In an interview with the Minister of Mining of Chile, Baldo Prokurica, he exchanged experiences and the latest knowledge about modern mining technologies as Chile is the fastest growing in the mining sector.
He also met with representatives of the World Bank, Global Practice Manager Christopher Sheldon and Global Energy Director Richard Puliti, who expressed interest in assisting Serbia with programs that will further enhance mining policies and strategies, B92 reports.
