To enhance access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Serbia, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved a 15 million euro loan. NLB Komercijalna banka will facilitate the distribution of these funds to SMEs, aiming to support their investments in new green technologies and equipment.

The allocated funds are designated for SMEs looking to implement sustainable practices and align their operations with EU directives and other international standards. By investing in green technologies, SMEs can enhance their sustainability credentials and meet evolving regulatory requirements.

The collaboration between EBRD and NLB Komercijalna banka seeks to provide comprehensive support to SMEs, assisting them in upgrading production facilities and adhering to environmental protection, occupational safety, and product quality standards. Ultimately, these investments will bolster the competitiveness of SMEs and contribute to Serbia’s transition toward a greener economy.

SMEs play a crucial role in Serbia’s economy, employing a significant portion of the population and driving economic development. Improving their access to finance is essential for Serbia’s integration into regional and global markets, particularly as it progresses through the EU accession process.

NLB Komercijalna banka, as a systemic bank with an extensive client base and a widespread network of branches and ATMs, is well-positioned to facilitate the distribution of funds to SMEs across the country.

EBRD remains a key investor in Serbia, with a focus on fostering private sector competitiveness, promoting the transition to green energy, and developing sustainable infrastructure. Through numerous projects, EBRD has already invested over 8.8 billion euros in Serbia, contributing significantly to its economic development.
