We have received assurances from the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Alexander Novak, that a joint sustainable solution will certainly be found and that Serbia will have sufficient quantities of gas in the coming years, given that the valid agreement expires at the end of this year, said Minister of Mining and Energy, Zorana Mihajlovic.
The meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, who is in charge of energy, comes not only during the global energy crisis, but also when a large number of new gas supply contracts are being negotiated, Mihajlovic pointed out.
We talked, she added, about the process of concluding a new long-term contract on the supply of gas to Serbia, and negotiations between Srbijagas and Gazprom are underway on the quantities and prices of that energy source.
Mihajlovic said that she talked with Novak about investments, primarily about NIS, but also about Petrohemija, construction of gas interconnections, as well as about potential cooperation on projects in the field of electric power.
The Russian company “Silovje masini”, which revitalized the unit at HPP “Djerdap 1”, is interested in participating in the revitalization and reconstruction of other electric power facilities, said Mihajlovic, the Ministry announced.
Novak pointed out that there is a long-term relationship between the two countries in the field of energy and that the Russian side intends to further develop those relations.
He thanked Mihajlovic for the successful completion of the “Balkan Stream”, which enabled a new route for gas supply, and added that since October, that gas pipeline through Serbia will also deliver gas to Hungary, Nova reports.
