Serbian Deputy PM and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic has met with Rio Tinto Serbia General Manager Marnie Finlayson.

They spoke on Wednesday in Belgrade, discussing implementation of the Jadar Project near Loznica, western Serbia, Tanjug said.

They talked about road infrastructure and Mihajlovic said works were underway on the design and technical documentation for construction of a high-speed transport route from Sabac to Loznica.

Serbia is committed to regional connectivity and there is no economic progress without infrastructure development, Mihajlovic said.

“The Jadar Project is enormously significant to our country… We are glad that such a successful company sees Serbia as an attractive investment environment and that a modern mine compliant with new technologies will be built in our country,” she said.

The Jadar Project includes one of the world’s most significant lithium borate sites, discovered near Loznica
