The Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Tatjana Matic, stated today that the foreign exchange inflow of Serbia from tourism this year is 33 percent higher than last year.
“At the moment, it is some 650 million euros. We have over four million and 600 thousand overnight stays. The arrival of foreign tourists has increased by 280 percent compared to the previous two months,” Matic told RTS.
She stated that now the tourist season is at 50% compared to 2019, and expressed the expectation that, if it continues like that, the statistics will be even better.
“We had a great summer tourist season. January, February and March were critical when it comes to Covid. We traditionally have a good season in September and December. Depending on the Covid situation, we can reach 70 percent of the record year. Let’s go back to 2019, we will need another year,” Matic pointed out.
She stated that 150,000 tourist vouchers were distributed.
“We also managed to provide an additional 2.1 million euros, compared to the 4.2 million euros budgeted. Those 150,000 vouchers strongly encouraged domestic tourists to visit our destinations. There is a noticeable increase in domestic tourists by some 45 percent,” she said.
She emphasized that these data are encouraging and pointed out that it is a good thing that domestic tourists have discovered Serbia as a tourist destination, RTV reports.
