The total foreign trade of Serbia in 2020 amounted to 40 billion euros and had a decrease of 3.4 percent compared to 2019, the Republic Bureau of Statistics (SORS) announced.
Exports of goods had a value of 17.05 billion euros, which is a decrease of 2.8 percent compared to the previous year, and imports decreased by 3.8 percent, to 22.95 billion euros.
The deficit amounted to 5.9 billion euros, which is a decrease of 6.8 percent compared to 2019.
The coverage of imports by exports was 74.3 percent and was higher than the coverage in 2019 when it was 73.4 percent.
Foreign trade was the largest with countries with which Serbia has signed free trade agreements. European Union member states accounted for 61.4 percent of total trade.
The second most important partners were the CEFTA countries, with which Serbia had a trade surplus of 2.1 billion dollars, which is mainly the result of exports of agricultural products (cereals products), electrical machinery and equipment, oil and petroleum products, road vehicles and beverages, Nova Ekonomija reports.
