Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirovic pointed out today that Serbia’s priority is to be part of the EU and establish all possible standards and practices of the Union, and underlined that the primary goal of our country is integration, but not only European, but also regional.
After the meeting with the head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Sam Fabrizi, Momirovic reminded that Serbia and the EU have many projects that they have implemented, started and will work on.
“It is difficult to start differently from saying that the primary goal of Serbia is integration, not only European, but also regional. The goal is for Serbia to be a part of developed Europe. We have done a lot to raise the standard of citizens and legal security, and we want to continue like that, which is why EU assistance is important to us,” he said.
Momirovic thanked Fabrizi for the cooperation so far, estimating that he proved to be a true friend of Serbia.
He expressed confidence that this cooperation will be of high quality in the future, as it was with his predecessor.
Momirovic thanked the EU for the great help and support in the realization of infrastructure projects, and pointed out that 75% of foreign direct investments come from the EU zone.
“Serbia’s economy is inconceivable without the EU economy. We are part of the single market and I hope for a single economic community tomorrow,” he stressed.
He said that an infrastructure project was challenged in front of us, which refers to the Nis-Pristina highway, ie our section Nis-Merdare.
“We expect that this project will bring economic prosperity to the entire region and raise municipalities along the administrative line, which were marked by strong stagnation,” Momirovic added.
He told reporters that they discussed the continuation of cooperation between the EU and Serbia, adding that the portfolio of infrastructure projects is full.
He pointed out that we are discussing projects that will be implemented together through the EU investment plan.
He praised the approach of the Minister and welcomed his commitment to the continuation of infrastructure projects in Serbia with the EU, in accordance with the rules of the Union.
“Serbia is the largest country in the region and can get the most from the integrated region of the Western Balkans,” Fabrizi is convinced.
He added that Minister Momirovic has a pragmatic approach, Nova reports.
