Representatives of the Government of Serbia, the French companies Alstom and Egis Rail and the Chinese company Power China (Power China) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding for the “Belgrade Metro” project tomorrow.
In the construction of the subway, the French side will be in charge of electromechanics, and the Chinese side for construction works.
Power China will be the main contractor, accounting for 70 percent of the total investment in subway construction. It is estimated that the construction of the Belgrade metro will cost more than 4.4 billion euros, of which the first phase will cost 1.8 billion euros.
Work should begin in the third and fourth quarters of next year.
Egis previously conducted a study donated by the French government, which predicts that the first line of the Belgrade metro will go from Makisko polje to Mirijevo (the first phase to the Pancevo bridge) in the length of 21.3 kilometers with 23 stations, and the second line from Mirijevo to Zemun, 19.2 kilometers long with 20 stations, Novi Magazin reports.
