Tadic to address Belgrade Security Forum Thursday

Serbian President Boris Tadic will address Thursday the first Belgrade Security Forum dubbed ‘The Balkans and Global Security: What Do We Have in Common, What Sets Us Apart?’

The Forum, which opens Wednesday, will gather more than 300 domestic and foreign politicians and experts who will try to answer security questions and challenges the region of the Western Balkans and the international community in the broadest sense are faced with.

The Forum, organized by the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence, Belgrade Center for Security Policy and the European Movement in Serbia, begins Wednesday night by a reception and panel discussions on energy security of Southeastern Europe, political upheavals in the Arab world and the security context of relations between Russia and the EU.

The second day of the forum, panels will be held on global security challenges, European security perspectives, the role of NATO in the region, Turkey’s security role, the role of media in creating regional stability, security cooperation within the Visegrad Group and the role of women in the security process. Participation of more than 70 foreign guests has been confirmed.

The Belgrade Security Forum is organized in cooperation with the Balkan Trust for Democracy, the Slovak Atlantic Commission with support of United Nations Development Program (UNDP), SlovakAid, the embassies of Norway, the USA and Slovakia, the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NATO and the European Fund for the Balkans.
