The construction of the Pan-European Corridor X in Serbia has been completed
, NewsJSC RZD International (a subsidiary of Russian Railways) has completed work on the Vinarci-Djordjevo (Serbian) section of the Pan-European Corridor X.
This is the last of the six sections of the Pan-European Corridor X the company has worked on, which incorporated:
The replacement of 15km of the lower and upper structure of the track
The replacement of 8 switches
The repair of 11 railway crossings
The main tracks at Leskovac and Djordjevo stations being reconstructed
350m of low platforms being reconstructed
The construction of drainage systems
The restoration of signalling and communication systems.
All construction and installation work on the section (the first reconstruction of the site since 1965) was done in 36-hour technological ‘windows’ and local, Serbian, constructors were also involved in the work.
Russian Railways equipment and technologies were utilised to ensure high rates of production and the laying of up to 1000m of track per shift. Trains on this section can now reach 120km/h (previously, they could go no faster than 50 km/h).
With the construction now completed, the object will be handed over to JSC Infrastructure of the Railways of Serbia and a three-year warranty period will begin.
Russian Railways Holding has been implementing a contract for the construction and reconstruction of railway infrastructure in Serbia since March 2014, with the contract concluded within the framework of an agreement between the government of the Russian Federation and the government of the Republic of Serbia on granting the Republic of Serbia.
The total amount of the contract is $941 million.
