The first EU expert mission to check reforms will arrive in Serbia next week

The first EU expert mission, to chek the degree of reforms in Serbia, will arrive in Belgrade on February 21, the director of the government’s Office for EU Integrations, Milica Delević, said. She told agency Tanjug that the expert team would be observing the situation in the judiciary, police and in the field of battle against organized crime and corruption. EC expert teams, to be paying visits to Belgrade several times, starting from the end of February, will be checking in the field how far Serbia has progressed in the fulfillment of criteria in three key domains – the rule of the law and judiciary, the functioning of independent regulatory bodies and the protection of human rights and minorities. EC Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule said in Brussels recently that the opinion of Brussels on the candidacy if Serbia could be presented in an annual report on progress, on October 12.
