The Minister of Finance of the Republic of Serbia, SiniĊĦa Mali, reminded that the construction of the subway in Belgrade has been waiting for more than 50 years.
– The works have started, by 2028 the first line will be completed, fully operational, by 2030 the second line as well. Not only do we solve traffic jams with that and it is an environmentally good project, but it is also a new impetus for greater and faster economic growth – stated Mali.
Mali pointed out that in that way, the domestic construction industry is also employed.
– Some had the idea that the subway would be only for the rich, in the city center, which makes no sense because the traffic in that part of the capital is already developed. The largest flow of people is directly in the position from Zeleznik, through the Fair, towards the city and towards Mirijevo, that is why we conceived the construction in this way – Mali pointed out.
As he added, the idea is to build both lines in the right way, as well as the third.
It is not only the development of the subway that is in question, we will also have more than 30 kilometers of new railways for the BG train and more than 40 kilometers of tram rails. We are talking about the overall development of the rail system, Novosti reports.
