On Friday, September 25, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic participated in a webinar dedicated to the promotion of the Mihajlo Pupin Industrial Park in Belgrade and assessed that the project would open its doors to domestic and foreign experts from the ICT industry, as well as startup innovation companies.
Brnabic said that the project, organized by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the Chinese construction company China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), was “another link in the chain” of friendship between Serbia and China, according to a statement from the Serbian government.
– We recognized CRBC as a partner that is reliable, fast and efficient and we can rely on, which we are proud of – said the Prime Minister and added that it is extremely important that the opening of this industrial park will contribute to the transformation of the Serbian economy modernization and, above all, the stay of young professionals in the country.
– We are interested in starting the construction of the Mihajlo Pupin Industrial Park as soon as possible and signing contracts with its future residents – said Brnabic, adding that Serbia is trying to successfully keep the door open to the world in the economy and foreign policy.
The conference was attended by Chinese Ambassador Chen Bo, Minister in charge of Innovation and Technological Development Nenad Popovic, representatives of CRBC, a representative of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Mihajlo Vesovic, as well as a representative of the Serbian Development Agency Rados Gazdic.
Project worth 300 million euros
Let us remind you, the project Serbian-Chinese Industrial Park Mihajlo Pupin in Belgrade will be built in the northwestern part of Belgrade, on the northern bank of the Danube, in the settlement of Borca.
It will be located near Pupin’s bridge, where the main roads connected to the bridge enable fast transport to the airport, the ship’s cargo terminal on the Danube, the railway station and the intercity highway network.
It is a comprehensive park, on an area of 320 hectares, which, in addition to the Industrial Park, will also include a high-tech park and an international trade center.
According to the feasibility study, the Park will directly and indirectly create about 25,000 jobs, attract about 3,000 companies, including high-tech companies, and consequently make a significant contribution to GDP growth in the Republic of Serbia, according to the website of the Cabinet of Ministers for Innovation and Development.
By signing the Memorandum of Interest, more than 40 large Chinese companies have expressed a desire to establish their business in the Park. The preliminary value of the project is around 300 million euros.
