In the northeastern industrial zone in Indjija, on an area of 64 hectares of construction land, the Japanese company for the production of tires “Tojo Tires”, will start the construction of its first plant on December 15.
Aleksandar Vucic, the President of Serbia, should also attend this ceremony, the laying of the foundation stone, as expected in the local self-government. After three years of negotiations, one of the largest companies in the world decided to start its first production in Europe in Serbia, in Indjija, where they plan to produce about five million premium tires for the European and Russian markets annually.
– When one company plans to invest around 400 million euros in the area of Indjija, that investment is not only of great importance for our city, but also for the whole of Serbia. What makes me especially happy is that the average salary of employees will be higher than the national average – Vladimir Gak, the mayor of Indjija, told Novosti, adding that the Japanese will build factory halls of 300,000 square meters in the next period. By the end of 2023, it will invest 367 million euros in plants and equipment.
As announced by the investor, 537 workers should be employed in the first phase, and the deadline for the construction of the plant is 17 months. The local self-government provided the land and infrastructure, and after obtaining the building permit, everything is ready for the construction of the plant, and the works were supposed to start in April, but due to the corona virus, they were constantly moving.
– The biggest competitors to Indjija, for the arrival of this investor, were the cities of Kosice in Slovakia and Gdansk in Poland, but this is our great victory, we still managed to bring them – President Gak does not hide his satisfaction.
Along with the production hall, “Tojo Tires” will also make a test track for tires, which will be within the factory.
In the last few years, the local self-government, with the help of the provincial secretariats, has invested close to 833 thousand euros in equipping the Northeast Work Zone, which covers an area of 97 hectares. Every future investor is waiting for a plot that is equipped with electricity, water, sewage, gas, telecommunications, or all the connections necessary to start production. Which was exactly one of the crucial decisions of this world giant, Novosti reports.
