The pandemic has greatly accelerated innovative processes in the field of the labor market and contributed to the management changing and adjusting its strategic business to new conditions, it was assessed at today’s conference on the impact of the pandemic on business and changes in the labor market.
The panel “New Strategic Trends” was held as part of the final conference of the educational program for managers and entrepreneurs “Academy”, which was launched by the Association of Managers of Serbia in April.
A panel held at Belgrade’s Metropol Hotel showcased innovation in management, as well as problems and innovations suffered by the Serbian labor market during the pandemic, to identify new strategic trends necessary for further progress in the sector.
Speaking about new trends on the labor market, the president of the Serbian Association of Managers, Dragoljub Damljanovic, told Tanjug that the labor market has undergone great changes since last year, and pointed out that the pandemic has affected people now more often than before.
He also pointed out that people have more opportunities to try their hand at different industries and online business, combining work from home and office.
He explained that the management sector has also undergone great changes and that the situation is drastically different than it was in the period from ten to ten years ago.
“Pyramid organization and management from the position of manager, itself, no longer makes sense, because managers, in addition to knowing their business, must be familiar with the sociological moments of employees and the group,” said Damljanović.
Managers in the new circumstances, claims the president of the association, must master sociological skills, in order to manage their teams in a good and efficient way.
He said this trend has proven particularly important in the teleworking system, where the manager must sense when a team is slowing down or has problems, as well as having an understanding of the challenges employees face in new circumstances.
He stated that it is innovative that many companies leave the pyramid organization and move to the “matrix” system, where there is an organization of individual projects and where at one time there are several bosses on different bases.
“Managers must be leaders and people follow them. They must present the idea and vision and realize the strategy for its realization in special circumstances,” he said, emphasizing that the motivation of employees is necessary for the results to be visible.
When it comes to investing in new professional staff, Damljanović says that during the last year the labor market has undergone a phase of adjustment and adoption of the system of work further and adds that now it is necessary to provide each employee with technical and personal training, so that investments in new professional staff currently missing.
The president of the EB of Generali Insurance, Dragan Filipović, told Tanjug that the labor market has changed on a global level and that the trend of hiring IT experts has been noticed, not only in that profession, but also in areas related to innovation and development.
He added that it has been noticed that people leave jobs in developed companies only because they cannot bear not to go to offices and cannot adapt to the new system of working from home.
He stated that sales underwent the most changes in the field of business during the pandemic, but that e-commerce therefore experienced expansion.
He concluded that the pandemic has accelerated innovative processes in the labor market and in management strategies.
The educational program “Academy” was held in Serbia for the first time this year, and then 26 diplomas were awarded to managers, participants in this project, Dnevnik reports.
