In the first six months of 2017, Belgrade has recorded tourism revenue about EUR 100 million higher than in the first half of last year.

Tourism Organization of Belgrade Director Miodrag Popovic has told RTS that over the same period, the city also reported a record result – about one million overnight stays.

This represents an increase of 22 percent compared to the first six months of 2016.

Belgrade also had 19 percent more foreign tourists, most of them coming from Turkey, while Israelis had the greatest number of overnight stays – 55,336, which is 649 percent more than last year. Tourists from China are next on the list, with 128 percent more overnight stays from January to June.

According to Popovic, Belgrade is attractive to tourists as one of the oldest European cities that offers “a good atmosphere” – and is “a must-see” culture capital in the making, and an important historical location.
