Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic opened a new production facility of ‘Gordon’, part of Italian ‘Calzedonia Group’, in Subotica on Thursday, stressing that Serbia will offer this company the best conditions in the region and noting that the company founder Sandro Veronesi should consider hiring 3,000 instead of the planned 2,000 new employees.

The Italy-based fashion retailer ‘Calzedonia Group’ already owns a production facility in Sombor with 2,000 employees, and two new plants, scheduled to open soon in Ruma and Apatin, will provide jobs for another 2,000 people.

“You will not find better professionals, energy and diligence in any other place, and I think you should consider increasing the workforce by even 3,000 people,” said Vucic.

He stressed that the credit for the new investment goes to the City of Subotica and the Serbian government, adding that he expects the young people who will work there to be hard-working and diligent.

“I am confident that in two years time, with the reforms we will carry out, Serbia will be a much better place to live and able to beat the competition in every way,” said Vucic.

The factory opening ceremony was also attended by Italian Ambassador to Serbia Giuseppe Manzo, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlovic and local self-government officials.
