We cannot close the economy in Serbia

Today, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, warned of the spread of the coronavirus epidemic and the consequences for the Serbian economy.
According to him, we are allocating 10.3 percent of GDP for health, we are building hospitals and health centers, we are increasing our capacities, but it is necessary to adhere to measures so that we do not fall into a difficult situation.
“We cannot close the economy at this moment. I am not afraid of difficult moves and how someone will react, but we must not lag behind others economically,” said Vucic.
“Even the race for vaccines concerns the progress of the economy, who will be faster. That is why it is important to try to get vaccines from different sides,” he emphasized.
He announced that an agreement with Pfizer would be signed in the coming days, and expressed the expectation that the agencies would make a decision on the possibility of the presence of other vaccines, which would dramatically speed up the recovery.
Vucic said that he should know that when one person is in the hospital for two or three days, then he paid for everything he spent on an annual level, and if 40 to 50 days, it must be paid for by someone else, and that is the citizens of Serbia.
He underlined that the current allocations for health care are 10.3 percent, and 33.3 percent would not help if it continues like this.
“My request to the citizens is that we be responsible,” he said.
“This year, we set aside 20 billion for medicines more than seven years ago, because the state now pays for innovative medicines for which we did not spend before,” said Vučić in his address after the session of the SNS presidency.
“Today, a nurse has a higher salary than a clinical doctor in 2011,” Vucic added.
However, as he said, “the state is not a jar from which money only goes, this is how we will enter a terrible crisis, first of all health, and not to mention economic problems, and we are the only ones now who increase salaries,” B92 reports.
