What has Serbia made in the field of energy?

The government has decided that electricity prices for the economy will not change in December. Due to the energy crisis, supply contracts have been extended for a month. And our country is at the forefront of energy reforms – is one of the messages of the “Ministerial Council of the Energy Community”, which was chaired by Serbia.
This year, our country adopted a new legislative framework in the field of mining and energy, which is accompanied by the European Union Directive. Serbia’s “Green Agenda” is also in line with the development investment plan, which contributes to the energy security of the entire region.
“We have been a little unhappy with Serbia in the past years, I have to say that. But this year we have made great progress in everything, the Law on the Electricity and Gas Market, there are some steps in separating Srbijagas,” said the director of the Energy Community Secretariat Janez Digger.
At the Belgrade meeting, the Energy Community set further tasks for the countries of Southeast Europe on the path of energy transition to green energy.
The Deputy Director General for Energy in the European Commission, Mehtild Wursdorfer, says that there are three important things – a clean energy package that will enable an increase in energy from renewable sources, then energy efficiency and a kind of pan-European market.
“I believe that we all have a chance to show in action that energy is not just energy and that energy cannot go without environmental protection. And everything we make from future decisions must relate to environmental protection,” said Minister Zorana Mihajlovic.
The goal is for all countries in the region to be connected as much as possible with transmission lines and gas pipelines, and, most importantly, on the way to the Union, they must make a map of the country’s decarbonisation path, ie a gradual renunciation of major energy pollutants. They promise that no one will lose their job in that process, RTS reports.
