The City Assembly is set to adopt a decision in early March that will oblige investors to have curtains with artwork from the National Museum on scaffolding.
In addition, the City plans to designate more buildings this year and next as cultural monuments.
Although earlier the City started this practice – screenings of artwork on the curtains, in the future it will apply to all construction sites, Novosti writes.
“An agreement has been reached with the National Museum”, said Goran Vesic, deputy mayor of Belgrade.
“All investors will be able to ‘pull’ images of works of art from links on the site of the City of Belgrade and the National Museum. Now such paintings will be on all objects under construction or reconstruction, not just those made by the City”.
According to Vesic’s announcement, the new general urban plan to be adopted next year will more clearly define the objects that are cultural monuments, and the Institute for the Protection of Monuments should quickly work on elaborations for their designation.
