Yazaki to relocate cable production to Serbia from Czechia
, NewsJapanese automotive components manufacturer Yazaki plans to relocate to Serbia the serial production of cables from its factory in Pilsen, in the Czech Republic, Prague-based media reported.
The relocation will be carried out in the spring of 2018, Czech news agency CTK quoted on Thursday Roman Pavlik, a spokesperson for Yazaki, as saying.
The company will keep the higher added value activities like development, logistics and engineering in Pilsen, where it has 470 employees, and will announce the number of redundancies by the end of this year, Pavlik said.
In September, Yazaki opened a factory for wiring harnesses for Daimler trucks in Sabac, in northern Serbia.
Yazaki Serbia d. o. o., a wholly owned subsidiary of Yazaki Wiring Technologies GmbH, plans to earn 120 million euro ($141.5 million) annually by exporting products produced in Sabac to European markets, Serbian media reported back in September.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, Yazaki has plants in Bulgaria and Romania. It is also present in Slovenia and Croatia.
