Serbia’s 2017 budget could be tabled to the government next week, and then also to the parliament, for a timely adoption, Finance Minister Dusan Vujovic said.

“The legal deadline for adopting the budget is December 15, but it could be adopted sooner, depending on the pace of the parliament’s work,” Vujovic said at a meeting of the assembly of the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities.

The 2017-2019 fiscal strategy has also been prepared and it, too, could be tabled to the government next week and then to the parliament, he said.

“That document is ready, too – now it is going through the cycle of comments and opinions, and it will be tabled to the government at the end of next week because the government cannot evaluate the budget and the strategy at the same time,” Vujovic said.
