September 12 (SeeNews) – Serbia’s annual consumer price inflation remained at 1.2% in August, the same as in July, which is its highest level since February, data from the country’s statistics bureau showed on Monday.
On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices increased 0.9% in August, after edging down 0.1% in July.
The biggest monthly increase in prices was recorded in recreation and culture, 3.1%, food and non-alcoholic beverages, 2.3%, followed by restaurants and hotels with 0.5%, and utilities with 0.2%.
The highest price drop was registered in clothes and footwear sector, of 0.5%, furniture and household equipment, of 0.3%, transport and alcoholic beverages and tobacco, of 0.1% each.
Based on the projections of Serbia’s central bank, the annual inflation rate will see moderate growth in the coming period and will reach the bank’s target range of 2.5%-5.5% at the beginning of 2017.
Serbia’s consumer price inflation accelerated sharply to a five-month high of 1.2% in July from 0.3% in June.
