The conference on Investment Opportunities in the Agribusiness Sector in Serbia will be held on November 17 in London and the participation has, so far, been confirmed by over 160 companies from the country and abroad – Serbian Minister of Agriculture Sasa Dragin said today.

– The conference is a unique opportunity for domestic representatives of companies in the agribusiness sector to meet potential investors, exchange experiences in this field and get familiar with the credit potentials and the flows of investments of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) – Dragin said in Belgrade.

As he added, this event is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of Serbia and the EBRD.

Dragin sees the growth of agricultural production in 2010 as an advantage of Serbia for investing in the agrarian sector and expects that the export of agricultural products will reach the value of 3 billion dollars, which would be 50% more than in 2009.

– The economic growth of Serbia in 2010 is conditioned by the economic growth of agriculture – the Minister of Agriculture pointed out and said that that might be an additional stimulus for investors to get interested in the agrarian sector.

EBRD CEO n Serbia Hildegard Gacek said how she believed that the agricultural sector was “crucial for the economy of Serbia” and that it had “the biggest potential for the economic growth of the country”.

She reminded that the EBRD had invested 2.4 billion euros in the economic development of Serbia and 255 million euros in agriculture in our country to date.
